Laura Swoboda

Dr. Laura Swoboda is a translational scientist and family nurse practitioner at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, WI, USA. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Swoboda provides direct patient care for patients with wound, ostomy, continence, and skin disorders in acute and post-acute settings. With over 10 years of experience in advanced wound care and 15 years of experience in healthcare, they pride themselves on delivering evidence based wound care and improving the standard of care for patients across the globe. Dr. Swoboda’s clinical philosophy is founded upon humanism and social justice. Their advocacy for patients is exemplified when delivering guidance in avenues including participation in federal policy, state regulations, and institutional teams. Dr. Swoboda is a published author, clinical editor for peer-reviewed publications, and a member of several national advisory, editorial, and certification boards. They are frequently called upon as a legal expert witness and has been a speaker at many local, regional, national, and international events. Dr. Swoboda offers guidance as a consultant to help companies understand the science, landscape, reimbursement, and regulatory environment. Dr. Swoboda is considered an innovator and early adopter of technology seeking to shape future landscape of healthcare to be more equitable and scientifically sound. They represent North America on the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel, and are President of the Milwaukee Metro Nurse Practitioner Association. Dr. Swoboda co-chairs the American Heart Association's Patient and Community Education Committee for the PAD Collaborative. They also chair the Health Equity Task Force for the Association for the Advancement of Wound Healing, and the terminology group for the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel's Prophylactic Dressing Standards Initiative Task Force.
