Dr. Bharat Kotru is an internationally recognized podiatrist, wound care specialist, and educator, heading the Advanced Foot & Wound Care Center – Center of Excellence for Diabetic Foot & Podiatry at Amandeep Group of Hospitals and Max Hospital, India. He is the Founder & Director of the Inter‑Professional Wound Care Association (IWCA) India, a pioneering initiative that earned him the IIWCG Appreciation Award (2026) for establishing a multidisciplinary wound care platform in India. Dr. Bharat’s academic journey includes a PhD in Diabetes & Biomaterials, a Master’s in Clinical Skin Integrity & Wound Management (University of Hertfordshire, UK), postgraduate training in Advanced Clinical Podiatry (Spain), and the IIWCC from the University of Toronto. He serves as faculty for the IIWCC Toronto, Project TAAAC at Addis Ababa University, and Project ECHO Wound Pedia in Canada, while also contributing to the Education Committee of WUWHS (2022) and the Executive Board of IIWCG (UAE). His innovations — including validated foot screening tools and cost‑effective offloading devices — are now used internationally, transforming diabetic foot care practice. He has been honored with the Gold Award for Innovation in Diabetic Foot Care (WUWHS/JWC, 2022), Best Podiatrist of the Year (Asian ICON Awards, 2022), and recognition from the Government of Ethiopia for establishing diabetic foot care centers. Widely published in Diabetes & Metabolism, Advances in Skin & Wound Care, Journal of Wound Care, and the International Wound Journal, Dr. Bharat also contributes to the WHO Diabetes Targets Expert Group, serves as a Reviewer for Advances in Skin & Wound Care, and sits on the Editorial Board of the International Wound Journal
