Kati Paalosalo-Harris

Kati Paalosalo-Harris is an advanced nurse practitioner and the nursing team lead for adult EB service at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. This service is one of only two highly specialised nationally commissioned referral centres for adult EB patients across the UK. Since 2020, Kati has coordinated complex multidisciplinary care, national outreach, and expert wound management for adults living with EB. A highly accomplished clinician, Kati qualified as a registered nurse in Finland in 1995. She brings a distinct nursing background to the EB service, including 15 years of experience within operating theatres and a subsequent 10 years specialising in cancer genetics. Kati achieved an MSc in applied healthcare specialising in genetics and has peer-reviewed publications. Working alongside world-leading EB experts, including Professors Jemima Mellerio and John McGrath, Kati is uniquely placed to champion the UK EB service model, as well as advocate for better EB care worldwide. Kati is also actively involved in updating the Clinical Practice Guidelines for EB with DEBRA UK, serves as a genomics ambassador for South East England and is a member of BDNG (British Dermatological Nursing Group).
