Dr. Leong Kin Fon is a consultant paediatric dermatologist in Malaysia. With a career spanning decades, Dr. Leong has made significant contributions to the field through his clinical practice, research, education, and humanitarian work. Currently, he is serving in Women and Children Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Born and raised in Malaysia, Dr. Leong pursued his medical education locally. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by children with skin diseases, he specialized in paediatrics and subsequently pursued advanced training in paediatric dermatology. His training included stints at prestigious institutions in Malaysia, Scotland, Germany, Malawi, Taiwan, Turkey and Singapore, where he honed his skills under the guidance of leading experts in the field. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Leong is a prolific researcher, with 146 published articles to date. His research has focused on various aspects of paediatric dermatology, contributing to a deeper understanding of skin diseases and their treatment. He authored several books, including the 3-book series of ”Atlas of Paediatric Diseases" and “Faces of Atopic Eczema among Malaysian Children”. He has been invited to contribute chapters in Atlas of Pediatric Dermatology in Asian Skin and Pediatric Skin of Color. Dr. Leong's commitment to the field extends to his leadership roles. He is the Vice President of the Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology,board member of International society of pediatric dermatology , also the Founding President of both Malaysian Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association (DEBRA Malaysia) and Malaysian Eczema Society. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of the Academy of Medicine (Dermatology Division). Furthermore, Dr. Leong is a dedicated educator, passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with others. He frequently delivers talks at conferences and workshops, both locally and internationally, contributing to the advancement of paediatric dermatology. Dr. Leong is also a passionate advocate for patient welfare and has been actively involved in various national and international humanitarian organizations, such as MERCY, TIMA, and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). In 2017, Dr. Leong was awarded the ILDS Humanitarian Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of dermatology and his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children with skin diseases.
