Aram Harijan, MD, is a wound care physician in San Diego, California, and the founder of AAA Wound Care. He earned his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his medical education, he interned as a Duke Global Health Fellow in Geneva at the International Centre for Migration, Health and Development. He entered general surgery residency at UCSF East Bay, which he left before completion due to medical leave. He spent the following years in Korea, working with several institutions including Archives of Plastic Surgery — most of his publications date from this period — and it was this academic and reconstructive work that built the knowledge base he later brought to wound healing. He returned to the United States in 2018 and founded AAA Wound Care in 2019 to deliver equitable wound care wherever wounds are found — long-term acute care, skilled nursing, home, street medicine, and cross-border practice in Baja California. From that work came the Acuity-Agnostic Wound Care framework: the standard of care should follow the patient, not the site of service or the ability to pay. He also developed an autografting technique designed for patients awaiting care in austere environments, and Wound Focus, a mobile wound documentation platform for the Global South.
