Thirunavukarasu RajooDatuk Dr

Datuk Dr Thirunavukarasu Rajoo is a physician, healthcare leader and policy advocate with extensive experience in primary care, healthcare management and professional leadership. He is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), having served for the 2025–2026 term. He was previously MMA Honorary General Secretary from 2019 to 2024 and Chairman of the MMA Private Practitioners’ Section from 2017 to 2019. Throughout these roles, he has advocated for primary care reform, healthcare workforce sustainability, managed care regulation, medical fee reform, medicine pricing and stronger engagement between the public and private healthcare sectors. Professionally, he is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CareClinics Healthcare Services, one of Malaysia’s largest primary care networks, with more than 200 clinics nationwide. He also serves on the Board of KOOP MMA and was its founding Chairman. His leadership interests include healthcare financing, clinical governance, digital transformation, artificial intelligence governance and the sustainable development of primary care. At the international level, he was elected to the World Medical Association Associate Members Steering Committee in October 2025 for a one-year term. Through the WMA, he contributes to global discussions on medical ethics, physician wellbeing, professional autonomy and the future of healthcare. His leadership journey and perspectives were also featured in the World Medical Journal in 2025. At the national level, he is a member of the Drafting Committee for amendments to the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 (Act 586). He has also contributed to several national committees covering medicines policy, antimicrobial resistance, managed care organisations, adverse drug reactions and poisons regulation. Regionally, he contributed to the Asian Productivity Organization’s study on healthcare productivity. He is a frequent speaker at national and international healthcare forums, including Future Healthcare Asia, the ASEAN Healthcare Summit and HIMSS APAC. His areas of focus include primary care transformation, healthcare financing, digital health, artificial intelligence, clinical governance and healthcare workforce policy. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership in Medicine from Harvard Medical School.
