Dr Nurzam Suhaila Che Hussin is a consultant pathologist specializing in medical microbiology. She obtained her medical degree from the National University of Malaysia in 1999 and later completed a Master of Pathology in Medical Microbiology at the same university in 2009. She currently serves in the Microbiology Unit, Department of Pathology, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, where she leads the unit and also holds the role of Deputy Quality Manager. Dr Nurzam is actively involved in infection prevention and control, as well as antimicrobial stewardship programmes. She serves as Deputy Chairperson of the Hospital Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee and contributes to key initiatives through the Hospital Infection Control Unit and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. She is also a member of Malaysia Society of Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy Her expertise in medical microbiology has contributed to the development of policies, guidelines, and technical committees at national, state, and hospital levels such as National Antibiotic Guidelines and Malaysia Guidelines on Sexually Transmission Infections. As an experienced medical microbiologist, she also supports the training of postgraduate students and trainee pathologists. Her research interests include medical microbiology, particularly bacteriology, antimicrobial resistance, and infection prevention and control.
