Tan Wooi ChiangAssoc Prof Dr

Associate Professor Dr Tan Wooi Chiang is a Consultant Dermatologist and Head of the Dermatology Service for Penang State, Malaysia. He has extensive clinical experience in the management of complex dermatological conditions, with particular expertise in inflammatory skin diseases, infectious dermatoses, sexually transmitted infections, drug allergies, dermatological laser surgery, and photobiology. He is actively engaged in professional dermatology organisation and currently serves as the President of the Dermatology Society of Malaysia. Dr Tan obtained his M.D. from Universiti Sains Malaysia and subsequently completed postgraduate training in Dermatology, including an Advanced Master in Dermatology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and a Fellow of the Asian Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (FAADV). An active clinician, educator and researcher, Dr Tan has served as an honorary lecturer at several Malaysian medical universities and colleges and is actively involved in postgraduate specialist training. He has contributed to the development of clinical practice guidelines and served as a reviewer for several medical and dermatological journals. He currently serves as Deputy Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Dermatology and has an academic portfolio comprising 77 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Tan has also presented extensively at national and international dermatology congresses. With a strong combination of clinical expertise, academic scholarship, research experience and professional leadership, Dr Tan brings a valuable dermatological perspective to the World Union of Wound Healing Societies, particularly in understanding the complex interplay between skin disease, inflammation, tissue injury and wound healing.
