A/ Prof SRIRAM NARAYANAN Senior Consultant, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon Director, The Harley Street Vascular Centre and The Venus Clinic, Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore President, Asian Venous Forum After obtaining his medical and basic surgical training in India, Dr Narayanan moved to the UK in 1997. He went on to train in Upper GI, Thoracic and Hepatobiliary surgery followed by 2 years of research in Transplantation. He was selected for the All-Wales Higher Surgical Training Programme in Cardiff in 2002 with sub-specialty training in vascular surgery. In 2008, SN moved to London as a Senior Vascular Fellow at the Imperial College working at the Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospital Vascular Units. SN was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, UK, in April 2010. He left this post to move to Singapore in March 2011 as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he served as the Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and Adjunct Asst Professor to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine for over 6 years. He was a Core Faculty Member of the National Healthcare Group Surgical Residency programme and is an MBBS examiner for the National University of Singapore. His current appointment is at the Harley Street Heart and Vascular Centre based at Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth, Novena Hospitals (part of the Parkway Pantai Group of Hospitals) in Singapore since August 2017 as a Senior Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. In September 2021, SN set up The Venus Clinic, a unique clinic in Singapore dedicated to the care of Pelvic venous disorders (pelvic congestion syndrome). The clinic provides a unique environment for this condition, and has pioneered diagnostic protocols for screening, pelvic venous duplex scanning, pelvic floor physiotherapy, interventional techniques, and psychological support for these patients. He has published on venous disease, transplantation, vascular access, vascular and endovascular surgery and peer reviews for the International Journal of Surgery, Phlebology and Journal of Translational Vascular Research. He is an internationally recognised key opinion leader and trainer in venous disease for Pelvic Venous disorders, glue ablation for advanced varicose veins, Intra Vascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and deep venous stenting. He also has a special interest in Erectile dysfunction research and treatment, and developed the method of penile haemodynamic testing for diagnosing the underlying cause of ED. He also pioneered a minimally invasive glue ablation procedure for younger men with ED from venous causes. The Harley Street Vascular Centre and The Venus Clinic, both at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore provide advanced vascular care to local and overseas patients and a tele-medicine, consultation, physician training and proctoring service for the region.
