Linda Benskin, PhD, RN, SRN (Ghana), CWCN, CWS, FRSM, WOCNF
Linda Benskin brings over 40 years of experience in nursing across diverse environments—including Level 1 pediatric trauma care, home health, rural clinics in Africa, and international education. She holds multiple credentials, including a PhD in Nursing Education from UTMB Galveston, certifications in wound care, and professional registrations in both the U.S. and Ghana.
Dr. Benskin provided and taught primary care and managed wounds for five years in a remote conflict-prone area of West Africa. Her work in this challenging environment drove her to a deeper understanding of the basic principles and physiology underlying wound healing. A passionate educator and innovator, Dr. Benskin’s research focuses on making wound care more effective and accessible in all care settings, particularly in remote and conflict-affected regions.
Dr. Benskin emphasizes working with the body to promote healing in information-dense heavily-referenced articles and presentations on basic and advanced wound assessment and management, wound infections, pain and inflammation, and the role of vitamin D. Her eager audiences range from experienced surgeons to barely-literate villagers across six continents.
Based in Texas, Dr. Benskin is an independent researcher and educator for village health workers and also serves as the Clinical Research, Education, and Charity Liaison for Ferris Mfg. Corp. She is the co-developer of the Available Technology Dressing (ATD) technique, an Associate Fellow of the Wound Healing Society, and a WOCN Fellow.
